THE KORN FERRY TOUR IS BACK!!!

Sorry, it might not be ALL CAPS exciting, but let’s give the Korn Ferry Tour some love, huh? The PGA Tour isn’t the only professional golf making its triumphant return this weekend!

For the first time since March 1, The 25 will tee it up as the Korn Ferry Challenge gets underway at TPC Sawgrass – Dye’s Valley Course. Yeah, maybe it’s not as exciting, but it’s golf, and I’m pumped.

WHAT THE HELL IS THE KORN FERRY TOUR?

For those that don’t know, the Korn Ferry Tour is the “minor leagues” of golf. At the end of every season, the top 25 players on the points list (known as “The 25”) earn their PGA Tour card for the following season.

Purses are usually around $600,000, but can get as high as a million towards the end of the season. COVID-19 cancellations have caused the KF Tour to combine the 2020 and 2021 seasons, with a mid-season PGA Tour card rewarded to The 25 in August.

TPC SAWGRASS – DYE’S VALLEY COURSE

It might not be as flashy as the Stadium Course – there’s no island greens or anything – but I can assure you, this track is a BEAR. In true Sawgrass fashion, almost every hole is water-lined, fairways are tight, and greens don’t make it any easier.

Do me a favor, take a peek at the Course Flyover on their website, and tell me you wouldn’t shit yourself on the 6th and 18th tees.

NOTABLE PLAYERS

Mito Pereira – Hailing from Chile by way of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Mito leads The 25. He’s already won once this year, by dropping an eagle on the 72nd hole at the Country Club de Bogota Championship in February. Kid is CLUTCH.

Davis Riley – Out of the University of Alabama, Riley is 2nd in points and has three top-12 finishes in six starts this year. Roll Tide.

Mike Weir – 2001 TOUR Champion. 2003 Masters Champion. Oh, Canada.

Sean O’Hair – 4-time PGA Tour winner.

D.A. Points – 3-time PGA Tour winner. Most notably as Bill Murray’s teammate in the 2011 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
